Today was a bit different then what we had been doing previously, as it was a slower paced day trip with little structure. I definitely enjoyed it, though, as it allowed me to take things a bit easier and really enjoy what the town had to offer without the stress of having set plans.
We had breakfast and left the hotel for the train station. It was about an hour train ride to Landsberg, which many of us spent sleeping. Before we knew it, we had arrived. We all walked to the town center and then were sent off to do some personal exploration for a few hours. We started as a group and branched off to do all sorts of things, such as shopping, site seeing, etc. I loved the feeling of the town: it was very peaceful and slower paced. We got pastries, walked around and saw some of the gorgeous architecture, and did some shopping. Before we knew it, we took the train back to Augsburg after a wonderful day in Landsberg.
Landsberg is famous for its prison in which Hitler was held in in 1923 when he was found guilty of treason for attempting to overthrow the government, and also where he wrote Mein Kampf. I unfortunately did not visit the prison, but was intrigued to learn many historical facts about the town.
