Today, we began our adventures in Don Silvano, Capilla del Senor. This is a traditional ranch full of so many different activities. Our welcome into Estancia Don Silvano began with the best empanadas I have ever had. Then, we started to explore everything the ranch had to offer like riding the carriage and exploring the landscape surrounding the estancia. We got to hang out with some of the horses and also the neighborhood cat who loved all of our attention. The only buzz kills of the day, literally, were the mosquitos, but we did not let it ruin our ranch day. After doing some adventuring on our own, we were gathered into their dining room and had a unique asado or barbeque lunch with some of the best Argentine meat, aside with fresh salads, drinks and traditional desserts. As if this could not get any better, there was a show of music, dance, and gaucho folklore. Everyone joined in on tango dancing and singing to the Argentine pampas. Next on our list was the long-awaited Gaucho show and horseback riding competitions. Gauchos are known for their horsemanship skills, resourcefulness, and independent-minded nature. Today, we learned a lot about how gaucho culture holds a lot of significant meaning and identity for Argentina as a cultural fabric. Gauchos’ values of self-reliance, resilience, and respect for the land resonate incredibly with Argentinians, sharing this appreciation of their shared heritage and pride. After doing some more research on it, in times of national struggle, gauchos often served as symbols of hope and perseverance. During the wars of independence, the gauchos proved to be invaluable allies, using their expertise in guerrilla tactics and horsemanship to aid in the fight against colonial rule. Bravery and Resilience became symbolic for the struggle of freedom and independence in the region. Although the world is more modernized and time has gone on, gaucho traditions are still very much prevalent here and continue to shape the identity and culture fabric of South America in general.

Also, side note, tomorrow is Mother’s Day, and we obviously will not be in attendance with our moms so a little mom appreciation super quick.Â
