Today, we started our day with a Tae Kwon Do class. I have never done any martial arts class before so this was a new experience for me! My muscles were really tight, so this was a good stretch and workout. The instructor was very lively and energetic! He taught us the fundamental moves and efficient self defense moves to utilize. We even had the opportunity to break a board and break it! It was really fulfilling to kick a board in half!
After tae kwon do, we went to Taepyeongno, Jung-gu to tour city hall. We had some spare time before our tour began so we grabbed lunch in the area. A small group of us went to a gimbap restaurant. I had cheese ramen and it was delicious! Afterwards, I went to an Olive Young nearby to grab some makeup. From what I have learned, Olive Young is basically like the Sephora of South Korea. It was so fun seeing the different types of makeup at Olive Young!
Soon, our tour began! Our tour guide for city hall was named Lee and he was a veteran from the Vietnam war. He took us to the top of City Hall where there was a garden with a view to the mountains.
The tour soon ended and Dr. Yun gave us a fun activity to end the day with! He split us into our respective groups and gave us a printed picture of a place in Seoul for our groups to find using the subway. Alex in my group immediately recognized the location on the paper and were off!
Our location was the Dongdaemun Design Plaza. Once we got the plaza, we began exploring. At the museum, there was an exhibition to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hello Kitty! I had such a fun time walking through the exhibition. Overall, today was such a fun day and I look forward to tomorrow!
