Today we started the morning off with a walking tour of Recoleta. We walked all around the neighborhood seeing the sights and getting a better idea of the town. We were recommended lots of shops and places to go.

The final stop on the walking tour was the La Recoleta Cemetery. This is nothing like I expected. It was rows and rows of mausoleum’s. This cemetery is famous because of these grand structures of hundreds of deceased rich and powerful people. One of which was Eva (Evita) who Peron.

After the tour of the cemetery we headed over to a lunch and tour of the Museo Evita. This is built on the second Estate of the Evita’s Ava’s family. She helped lead to develop Peronism. This is a prominent political ideology in Argentina, has profoundly influenced the organization of the healthcare system. It has a focus on social justice and government interventions.

Peronism lead to the creation of the universal healthcare system, which made access to medical services for all citizens a right. Peronism also established community health initiatives, including disease prevention campaigns and public health education programs. But with what we have learned during the past few days, inefficiencies and economic instability have been raised as major issues with this approach. It was very cool to see the museum and all that it had to offer. I think my favorite part was the private dress collection (unfortunately we could not take pictures). It was very cool to see how connected the two topics actually were to each other.
