St. Nicholas of the Roof church was unlike any other church we have been too. It was unique, for there were so many paintings and each of them told a story. Something truly unique about this church was Mary was breastfeeding baby Jesus and back then they did not capture that in a painting. Another rarity is an 11th century painting of Lazarus near the church entry. I thought it was interesting how the heavens were painted at the top of the building and Jesus’s like was on the upper sides, while the life of humans was near the bottom. It was absolutely beautiful, especially with the surrounding Mountain View’s.

Kakopetria in the Trodos Mountains was absolutely gorgeous. It is somewhere I could definitely see myself living. The area felt like a close community with welcoming arms. The different paths and corners were so beautiful I couldn’t stop taking pictures. There were many plants and cats around the area making it so vibrant. The houses were mainly built with limestone, but the trout place was built with bamboo which was really cool. I loved how Dimitri pointed out all the fruit trees and herbs. Everything was so fresh and the free water out of the fountain was a great touch. There are two streams that provide water for irrigation in the village. The streams are so calming and the bridges above them make for a great photo. This is now my new favorite place in Cyprus!
