Cyprus Day 10!

Today we visited GAP Vassilopoulos Group. GAP is a company that is highly involved in many industries and the goal of their business is to make it a one stop shop for their consumers. Their primary customers are related to trading and shipping where they will handle everything from the storage to the distribution. By processing in this way, it actually makes it cheaper and more convenient for their consumers rather than having to outsource to different companies for various things. This really interested me because by covering all aspect for their clients, it built this relationship of trust and reliability. Additional services that GAP was apart of included transport, logistics, military/naval base, travel agencies, and water treatment services. The GAP Vassilopoulos Group seemed extremely well versed in what they do and they answered our questions thoroughly. I was very impressed.

As we listened to Dr. Vassilopoulos lecture, he made some really good points regarding key supply chain concepts and ideas. I learned just how critical it is to have open communication and collaboration. Communication and collaboration between different sectors in a company is so important for overseeing and to implement visibility. I also learned that communication and collaboration between you and your competitors is important for maintaining relationships and keeping up in modern times. The concept of visibility and transparency within the supply chain was another thing Dr. Vassilopoulos emphasized. He talked about how essential full transparency was between different groups to ensure that overseeing the whole supply chain goes smoothly. I was so glad that Dr. Vassilopoulos not only gave us information about GAP but also real life strategies and ideas that could be applicable to the real world.
