Probiotics and Prototypes

Today we visited HY and the Samsung Innovation Museum. HY produces yogurt and probiotic products. They make over 45,000 bottles per hour. We were taken on a guided tour to see how their products are made as well as to see what the factory looked like from above. We couldn’t see any production in action since the workers had off for the holiday, but it was so cool to see how developed their factory and system was for their products. At the end of our tour, we were given a tote bag of their products and also got to try some. It was fun to have a full circle moment from having their probiotic drinks in the hotel for breakfast to then going to the factory where they are produced. After our visit to HY, we split into groups for what we wanted to lunch. I went off with the group with Kay and had bulgogi kimbap which was delicious.

Following lunch, we headed to the Samsung Innovation Museum where we were taken on a guided tour that covered the history of television, electricity, and phones. Some of their smart system products included a fridge that could track what was put in and taken out of the fridge as well as a tv that could be a whiteboard. Another product they had was a tv that could rotate to display media both vertically and horizontally.

After our tours of both companies, we did another group scavenger hunt at Lotte World. While my group was unable to find the handprint photo, we did find the other 3 locations. It was fun to explore how big Lotte World was. This included the mall, stores, and tower. While I was not able to go to the top of the tower, the architecture and height of the tower was incredible to see.

With only a few days left, it’s getting more and more real that my time here in Seoul is coming to an end. Every moment here has been so incredible, and I can’t wait to continue learning with the time I have left.
