Today started off bright and early with another traditional Korean breakfast. The itenerary for today included a visit to HY/ Freddit Co., a popular korean yogurt manufacturer, and Samsung. I was very much looking forward to both of these visits. First we headed off to Freddit. While before this trip, I wasn’t particularly familiar with HY products, but since being in Korea, I’ve been unkowingly eating them with breakfast everyday. The most popular HY product is their probiotic yogurt drink. Suprisingly, this is the same yogurt drink that Dr. Yun recommended we have at the hotel with our Korean breakfast everyday. The site visit was a very interesting and cool experience. I particularly liked how clean the facility looked and how consistent their marketing was. They used many moden style marketing tactics which appealed to my eye. Also, HY showed us their specialized yogurt-delivery robot. This smart-system robot is driven by an HY delivery person and has many technologically enhanced features to optimize the transportation of their product. Next, we were off to Samsung headquarters to visit the Samsung Innovation Museum (SIM). The Museum was an incredible place to visit. There, our tour guide showed us much of the history of electrical innovation and how modern technology has been developed and integrated into our society. I found much of the history extremely interesting, especially the history about the development of electricity. The tour guide also showed us some of the latest Samsung products and how they are being used today. One I found particularly interesting was a new type of TV screen that can rotate to better consume vertical content. This is a great example of Samsung noticing and innovating to account for current trends around people consuming more short-form video. Overall, the company tours today were a great experience and I’m so glad to have had the opportunity to visit and learn more about all these amazing global organizations.
