Queen Evita: Day 8

Today, we started off with a walking our of Recolecta.I had the opportunity to go to this beautiful church and learned some history about it. The tour guide emphasized the amount of European influence that Argentine architecture has. We also saw the officers and they way they changed positions. Everything was very serious and I would never do a job like that even if they receive benefits and honor from their position

After our walk through Recolecta, we saw many cute famous cafes and went to the famous Recolecta Cemetery. I am actually terrified of cemeteries because of their dark connotation but it was very interesting visiting all these famous Argentine people. The cemetery felt like a mini city, it was huge and beautiful. There was marble tombstones and some looked like mini apartments. I learned from the tour guide that one woman might have been buried alive. She woke up and saw that she was in a cemetery and went into shock. Some may believe her mother killed her because they had the same lover which was weird but interesting.

After the tour we visited the Evita museum which was a museum dedicated to Eva Peron, the wife of Juan Peron. She was a legend in Argentina history and her cemetery received a lot of praise. She gets flowers and cards almost every day and well taken care of. Peronism was important and starts the concept of healthcare being a right in Argentina. It was also cool learning how she was a poor child and grew up to be a famous icon.
