I never thought I would get to this point after such an incredible trip I have had in Seoul, but here I am writing my final blog post abroad. Today, we had our last full day in South Korea. Due to the rain yesterday, our Han River Cruise was moved to today. We had a later start to the day than usual, but my group and I utilized this in order to go over last-minute run throughs with our final presentation that would occur before dinner.
When we arrived at our location, we were given a choice between bento boxes to have for lunch before going on the boat. The boat ride was so amazing. It was the perfect event to end our sightseeing. While on the boat, we were able to feed the seagulls anchovies which got to be a bit hectic throughout the boat ride. Overall, I was so glad that we got to experience the Han River Cruise.
This trip has been such an education experience for me. Since it was my first time outside of the US, I was able to fully immerse and witness another culture. It was so valuable professionally and personally to see the differences between the two cultures. One of the most important things I noticed that also played a crucial role for our final presentation was that the Korean culture is willing to put aside their individual lives for the greater good of their country unlike Americans who are more selfish in a sense. In Korea, there is so much more respect and care between others as well as the country itself. I want to say one final thank you to Dr. Yun, Chris, Kay, Brad, and the Plus3 staff for making this trip possible. I hope to come back to Seoul one day, knowing that I will never forget these last two weeks!
