Our last full day in Seoul has come. Thursday’s itinerary was fairly light. We had a Han River cruise, presentations, and dinner. We had to congregate in the lobby at 11:00am so it was the first day we were able to sleep in. We took a bus to the river and then had bento boxes for lunch. On the boat, everyone headed to the sun deck. It was such a beautiful day out everyone wanted to be above the stern to enjoy the weather and take advantage of the view. There were seagulls that flew above/along the river. During the cruise, you were able to buy a bag of dried anchovies to feed the seagulls. To my surprise they were gentle when taking the anchovies from your hand. I probably fed over 6 different seagulls, and I did not get nipped once. 10’s pictures were taken on the boat because of the amazing views and many of us girls got dressed up for it. The cruise was only an hour long so afterwards we headed back to the hotel to rest and prepare for our presentations.

During the trip we had a project to pitch a business startup in Seoul Korea. My group chose to create an app called JIBEN. The app’s objective would be to keep pedestrians safer when walking out and about while in Seoul. Due to phones being a big distraction our app would use different engineering software and different partnerships with navigation companies, weather companies, and GPS providers to provide real time traffic data, weather data, congestion, alerts etc. and alert users when they are in imminent danger. This alert would take up majority of their phone screen disabling the use of other applications on their phone. Our presentation went well and so did the other groups. I had no idea what any other group had planned to do for their business so it was fun to find out the day of presentations.

Afterwards we all walked to dinner. Dinner was family style where an exuberant amount of dishes were given to us to eat. I tried many new foods this night. For the most part I liked everything. After everyone devoured the plates of food, everyone collectively headed outside to say goodbye to our tour guide Kay. I did not blog much about the transportation getting to the places we visited besides mentioning we took the bus and or subway. Everyday Kay would met us in the lobby and join us at all our daily planned activities. From the company site visits to the cultural explorations. Kay helped us navigate everywhere we went especially on the Korean subway. Some other students were able to understand how to use it (when it came to the scavenger hunts). That was never me, I just followed Kay and the crowd as we moved through the subway and had many transfers. After saying bye to Kay and giving her a little gift I went with friends to get a sweet treat before descending back to the hotel to pack for the rest of the night. During my packing ventures my roommate Taylor and I ventured to Myeongdong one last time for me to buy souvenirs for my parents. I also made one last stop to 7/11 for some ramen. We headed back to our room where I continued to pack and then went to sleep.
