Day 9: Audi Factory Tour

The long-awaited Audi Company tour is here! We arrived via bus at Audi’s headquarters and walked around the museum for a few hours. The museum follows Audi’s history chronologically the top floors house the oldest Audi models and the floors decreased in number showcasing the most recent models.

This white convertible Audi was an older model, the Audi Front Roadster. Made in 1935, this vehicle was made to be an attention-grabbing highlight at the 1935 Motor Show in Berlin.

After learning about Audi’s extensive history and models of vehicles and motorbikes, we got lunch at the Audi cafe. I was especially impressed at the quality of food that Audi had (at least compared to the other companies that we had eaten lunch at). I got a pricy lemon and basil water (3 Euros to be exact). My bank account took quite a hit but it was well worth it as the food left me feeling satisfied.

After lunch we took a company tour. Unfortunately, we weren’t permitted to take photos of the production line or inside the factory but it was so unbelievably impressive. The factory produces around 33 vehicles per hour and the production line never stops. The tour lasted about an hour and my favorite part was probably seeing how Audi paints their cars various custom colors. Watching all of the newly assembled parts get dipped into color pigments was the highlight of my visit.
