Chao Argentina

Today was our last day in Buenos Aires and I had anan amazing time exploring this beautiful city. This was my second study abroad trip and my first time in South America and it did not disappoint me not one bit! I got to practice my Spanish-speaking skills even more and adjust to the new accent and learn about the culture. I had such a good experience on the education aspect as well, learning about their healthcare system. We went to numerous excursions: visited Evita museum, Recolecta cemetery, Jardin Japones which all I adored.

During this trip, I have learned so much about the healthcare system, and comparing it to the United States was so interested as well. One of the main themes in the Argentina healthcare system which I admired the most is that Healthcare is a right. Healthcare is universal even towards tourists which is cool but has many downsides. The public sector is under-funded but all the healthcare workers are extremely devoted to their craft. The private hospitals such as Instituto Cardiovascular Buenos Aires (ICBA) were so beautiful and looked fancy and definitely wealthier compared to other parts of Buenos Aires. The public hospitals are out dated and their technology was outdated compared to the private hospitals. The private hospitals are funded by private insurance companies and the patients who attend have an higher Income. There needs to be changes on both the public and private health sector but learning about both was so interesting. In the United States, there are private hospitals which are extremely expensive and people tend to avoid due to their high expenses. The hospitals in the United States, most of them are well-funded and have updated technology.

The academic experience along with the cultural made Argentina one of my most favorite experiences ever. I’m so appreciative for this experience and meeting Julie and all my new nursing and new friends. The people on this trip made the trip so much more enjoyable with all our voyages around the city and trying new restaurants. My favorite restaurants were Santas Manjares with the $13 steak and TANTA (ONE OF THE THE BEST PERUVIAN FOOD I EVER HAD), will miss the cheap steak and drinks that were extremely good.
