Free Day in Austria: Day 13

Today is our last day in Germany, which is sad to say. We have a free day today to do whatever we want to do! I, along with all of the other students, decided to take the train to Salzburg Austria for the day!

Robby, Jacob, and I managed to get lederhosens from some of our German friends that we met during the trip, so we decided to wear them in Austria. We looked super funny but it was awesome wearing them. We felt like true Bavarians. We headed to the train around 9:20.

I absolutely loved Salzburg! The city was super neat to walk around in. It is such a cool and unique balance between the mountains and a city.

We went to an Austrian cafe where I ate some of the local Austrian trout that they served. It was super flavorful and tasty.

After we ate we continued walking around. We stopped at a pastry stand where I had a treat. The treat was a mixture between a lady lock and a cannoli. It was so good, I even bought another one.

After the treat we hiked up the mountain to get a closer look at the castle in the mountains. The castle was super neat. We didn’t manage to go inside because we had to end up paying 20 euros, and at this point of the trip my money was tight.

We continued hiking up through the mountains where we found a cafe that overlooked the whole city. We got a drink and food there and enjoyed the amazing view.

After chilling at the cafe for a couple hours we headed back down the mountain where we got pizza at an authentic Italian restaurant, which was of course great! After the pizza it was time to head back to Augsburg. We boarded the train around 6:30 pm and got back around 9.

It was truly a great day in Salzburg. It was super neat being able to go to another country and experience its culture.

I hope one day I will be able to go back to Salzburg since it was such a quick day trip!
