Hello There!

Hi! My name is Hannah Shroff. I’m from Bethesda, Maryland, about thirty minutes outside of Washington, D.C. I’m a first-year nursing student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at the University of Pittsburgh, Oakland. My ultimate goal, however, is to become a nurse practitioner on a labor and delivery floor! In my free time, I like going to the gym, swimming, baking, and spending time with my family and friends.

I am super excited to be studying abroad in the UK, more specifically Birmingham, this summer! I love traveling and exploring new places, so I was very excited when I found out I would be able to participate in a study abroad program, especially with being a nursing student! Not only am I excited to immerse myself in the UK’s culture, but I’m also excited to learn about and compare the differences between the healthcare and educational systems in the UK to the methods and approaches in the U.S. As someone interested in working in the women’s healthcare field, I’m looking forward to gaining more insight in this field through the lectures at Birmingham City University and the opportunity to visit different hospitals. Ultimately, I think this experience will help me become a more well-rounded nurse with a diverse skill set, allowing me to provide the best care possible. While this isn’t my first time outside of the States, this is my first time going to Europe, so I’m very excited to explore both London and Birmingham and all the food too (especially the Fish and Chips)!
