Hi! My name is Caroline Throener. I was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. I love exploring Pittsburgh and especially love when I can take my dog Rex on adventures with me. I am a Freshman in the Swanson School of Engineering and a member of the Frederick’s Honors College at Pitt. I am pursuing a Bachelor of Philosophy in bioengineering as well as minors in exercise science and mechanical engineering. My goal is to attend grad school and become a prosthetist. When it comes to campus involvement, I am pretty active. I am a mentor in Pitt’s makerspace and production co-lead in Pitt’s Accessible Prosthetics Initiative chapter. I also play piccolo in the pep band.

I am so excited to be going to Cyprus this summer. I love traveling and some of my favorite trips have been to Europe. I choose Plus3 Cyprus because of its unique history and cultural blend. In my opinion, exploring a new culture is a key aspect of travel. The deep cultural roots in Cyprus are fascinating. I am so excited to visit historical sites and cultural landmarks. The supply chain management course work is also intriguing. As an engineering major it is essential that I understand the supply chain. Knowing the process from materials to retail is an important consideration when designing. I am so excited to visit company sites across Cyprus and learn as much as I can. I can’t wait for May!

Great blog post Caroline!! I’m happy you are so excited for Cyprus and learning about the culture and history.
