Luke Tennant: Gearing up for Vietnam

Hey, my name is Luke Tennant. I’m a Freshman in the College of Business Administration and I’m looking to major in finance as well as minor in math. I’m from Westfield, New Jersey and grew up playing sports my whole life, mainly soccer. I played trumpet for 9 years and I also love listening to music like Radiohead, Pink Floyd, and Daniel Caesar. One of the main reasons I picked the University of Pittsburgh is because I have a passion for traveling and I knew that I was going to be applying for Plus3 before I even got here.

This summer, I will be going to Vietnam for my Plus3 program, more specifically, Ho Chi Minh City. I’m super excited about going as this was my top choice for Plus3. I picked Vietnam as my top choice because of its focus on finance as well as the unique and welcoming culture they have. I’ve heard numerous stories from people who have gone on this trip about how eye opening and life changing it is. Personally, I’m hoping to gain a more diverse view of the world from this trip as I’ve never been to Asia before. I want to be able to experience all the food, beauty, and culture that Vietnam has to offer and make memories that will last a lifetime. Professionally, I’m really looking forward to all the site visits as I will be able to see what really happens behind closed doors at a large corporation. I’m hoping to build relationships with people I meet in Vietnam as well as get closer with the people in my program. Plus3 Vietnam is an extremely unique experience that I wouldn’t be able to get anywhere else and I’m hoping to make memories that I’ll cherish forever.
