Hello everyone! My name is Quang Huynh, and I’m going to Vietnam this summer. I’m a freshman in the College of Business Administration and am majoring in finance and intend to pursue minors in Vietnamese and mathematics. Outside of class, I’m a senior analyst and Vice President of Professional Development for Pitt’s Socially Responsible Investment Portfolio, and after graduating, I would like to work in banking.
I’m originally from York, PA, and in high school, I was extremely active in my school’s music program. I played the clarinet for 9 years, and throughout the years, I learned to play other instruments including different saxophones and baritones. My favorite group I played in was jazz band which inspired my current love of jazz music.
I chose this program because it has so much to offer both personally and professionally. My parents are Vietnamese immigrants who work extremely hard to provide for my siblings and I, and their story has always inspired me to be an exceptionally hard worker and to roll with whatever adversity comes my way. Traveling to see their homeland and the roots of my ancestry is incredibly meaningful to me, and I’m looking forward to fully immersing myself in the Vietnamese culture that my parents came from. Professionally and academically, Ho Chi Minh City is an incredible place, and I’m looking forward to learning all about the companies and learning more about the students at UEF and their own studies. I’m extraordinarily interested in how fast the economy has developed, and I’m interested to see the inner workings of the industries in Vietnam. I’ve also never traveled outside the U.S. so this will be a totally new experience for me that I’ll always remember! Overall, Plus3 Vietnam is a unique experience that I have no doubt I will learn from academically, personally, and professionally.
