Hey everyone! I’m Nick, a freshman at Pitt majoring in Materials Science & Engineering — though I’m currently in the process of switching to a double major in Mathematics and Data Science. My goal is to pursue graduate school and eventually work in the machine learning and AI industry, a field I’m deeply passionate about.
I’m from Canonsburg, PA, a small town just outside of Pittsburgh, and I have an undying (and occasionally unhealthy) love for all things Pittsburgh sports. In my free time, you’ll usually find me reading, lifting at the gym, or playing the drums.
What excites me most about studying abroad is the opportunity to immerse myself in new cultures — especially Eastern cultures, which I’ve always been fascinated by. I love having conversations with people from different backgrounds, learning how they live, and reflecting on how those perspectives differ from my own. I’m looking forward to not only growing personally from this experience but also strengthening my future professional work through a deeper appreciation for cultural diversity. Exposure to different ways of thinking and problem-solving via learning about the economy and supply chain in Vietnam will help me approach challenges more creatively.
