My name is Marin Krause and I am a freshman in the nursing program here at Pitt. I grew up in Reading, PA, and decided to come here because of the clinical experience that UPMC offers. I would like to graduate with my BSN and start work as a nurse in pediatrics or women’s health. My ultimate professional goal is to be a Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Assistant in a pediatric hospital before I’m thirty. One of my favorite parts about being a student at Pitt is participating in Pitt Dance Marathon. This club raises money for UPMC’s Children’s Hospital. It has introduced me to so many people who are passionate about healthcare and changing the future of kids’ health. I am so grateful for the opportunity to interact so closely with Miracle Kids from Children’s and this club is so close to my heart.
I have chosen Plus3 Spain as my program. I am fascinated by differences in healthcare around the world and I am so excited to explore these hospital settings and learn about their quality of care. From a more personal standpoint, I selected Spain because I knew how unique the culture would be and I wanted to gain a completely new experience. I have traveled to Europe before, but only in Germany, and I can’t wait to see what Spain has to offer. I hope that this experience makes me more well rounded as a student and allows for me to be more compassionate and understanding as a nurse.
