Off to the Netherlands!- Zoe Bergschneider

Hey y’all! My name is Zoe Bergschneider, a first-year student from North Carolina! I am studying Economics, Politics & Philosophy in the Honors College, on the Pre-Law track. I am a researcher with the Pittsburgh Policy Initiative and a co-chair on the Honors College Student Council for Admissions and Alumni Relations. I am also a Judicial Committee member for the Student Government Board and a business team member of the Pitt Panther FSAE Racing Team!

On a more personal note, I am a very adventurous person and love to spend time outside, from being an active tennis player, mountain biker, and a surfing instructor! This has fostered a deep appreciation for the environment and a drive to find feasible, sustainable alternatives to everyday industry and personal practices. I am excited to learn more about how the Netherlands has integrated such practices into everyday life and how we can adopt versions of these initiatives into our own lives here.

This May, I have chosen to participate in Plus 3 Netherlands, focusing on studying the intersections between sustainable economics, business, and engineering practices. I am hoping to gain a more in-depth view on the interdependence of business and engineering practices in the global landscape. I am also looking to develop my networking skills in an international setting as well as study how professionals in my areas of interest push the confines of a single area of study to be more collaborative and innovative. I am excited to see the intricacies of how industry runs in the Netherlands and learn about how I can live a more sustainable life, both personally and professionally!
