Hello, I am Katie Haughey and I am a freshman in the Nursing program here at Pitt. I grew up in Chester Springs, PA which is about 4 hours from here to the East. I can to the University of Pittsburgh because of its amazing nursing program and it just made sense for me financially. This year I have spend my time study, hanging out with all the new friends that I have made, and participating in Army ROTC. I have studied abroad once before when I went to Paris, France my junior year of high school. I spent two weeks over there spending time in the city and exploring French schools. After graduating, I hope to work as an Army nurse or in the emergency department.

A few facts about me! I have 3 siblings, 2 older brothers and a younger sister. I have built my own rocking chair and electric guitar. I have a puppy named Luka.

I have choose Plus3 Spain as my program and I will be traveling to Bilbao, Spain this May. I am super excited as this is my second time out of the country and I can’t wait to explore Spain. I have chosen this program because while nursing is my passion, I have a large interest in engineer and the more technical side of medicine. I can’t wait to learn more about the Spanish culture and their way of life. I hope to learn about different healthcare systems and be able to take what I learn and apply it to my job as an RN. Ultimately, I hope to get a broad understand of what healthcare is around the world and how it differs from the US.
