After the long flight to Argentina, I was quite tired, however, Buenos Aires has been nice so far! The city seems similar to New York, with influence from the United States being seen in their shops in the airports to Ford trucks on their roads. The airport was very similar to the Philadelphia Airport, so it was not overwhelming and the migration process was quite easy . Additionally, it has similar modern architecture to New York, although the skyscrapers aren’t as tall. In general the buildings seem to be smaller, a cultural difference communicated through their architecture. The hotel is quite nice, with me and my roommate Max having a great view of the intersection outside the hotel. Everything in the hotel was similar to those in the United States, so there wasn’t much adjustments necessary.
Overall the city seems nice, the view from the IES facility was stunning, as it overlooked some of the greenery in the city seen in the picture. The road signs seemed new and their roads freshly painted, showing their commitment to their infrastructure. While some of the buildings aren’t as modern, it provides a rustic atmosphere to the city, giving it more character.
We had lunch at the IES Abroad facility on the rooftop, introducing their culture through food. The chorizo sandwiches and steak were the headliners of the meal, with a spicy chimichurri to accompany it. I hope that the food is as good as this or even better. I can’t wait to try everything Buenos Aires has to offer, I think this city will have great food and culture.
