Day 2 in Korea- Archery, Samsung, and Myeongdong!

Today was day 2 in Korea! After finally catching up on some sleep we got a quick breakfast at the hotel before beginning our journey for the day. We took the bus to Suwon which is a city about a hour away from Seoul. Here, we were able to tour the Suwon fortress which is another breathtaking structure we were able to explore. Here we were taught Korean Archery and had the opportunity to shoot arrows on our own which was so much fun! Next, we stopped for lunch in Suwon where I got a tradition Korean meal. We got squid, kimchi soup, and my personal favorite which was kimchi pancakes. The place we ate was very cozy and definitely nothing like anywhere in the US.

After our time around the fortress we got back on the bus to head to the Samsung Innovation Museum. The headquarters of Samsung is located here and we got to tour the Museum which gave us insight on the history of technology and the types of technology Samsung is currently manufacturing. One piece of technology we were shown that blew me away was the smart fridge which can track which items go in and out of your fridge without any human input. It is amazing to think about all the things we are able to do with AI given all of the advancements that have been made. The next place we went today was Myeongdong where we explored various shops and street markets. There were so many different stores that we explored including clothing, skin care, and shoe stores. It is clear that this area is the most prone to tourists since every alley was packed. After this, we attended our welcome dinner which was set up by the university and offered us more fantastic food. This dinner consisted of a traditional Korean Dinner that compiled a total of 18 side dishes. After a day full of activities we explored the area around our hotel and went to bed. Thank you for reading my blog and I am so excited for tomorrow!
