Today was officially our first day in Cyprus! To start off the day, we went to the University of Nicosia (UNIC) for orientation! There we met our guides and learned valuable safety tips and regulations for Cyprus. Quickly, I found out that is practically your survival guide here. (Do not text and j-walk) After orientation, we went to a cooking demonstration of common food in Cyprus. Of course I had to volunteer, but quickly stopped to try the appetizers. Most of the dishes we tried are native to Cyprus and have overlap with Greek foods. I will definitely have to learn how to appreciate olives and olive oil. Overall, my favorite dishes of the day were the meatballs and tzatziki! The lunch just made me more excited for the meals to come!
