Xin Chao! Em ten la Tú. We started the day off with more pho and fried rice before we headed to class at UEF where we discussed the main exports of Vietnam and the state of the Mekong-Delta region. Specifically, I learned that the three largest exports of Vietnam are rice, fruit, and fish. Additionally, we also learned that the Mekong-Delta’s international market is facing some issues. Mass immigration, global warming, and infrastructure are a few of the most influential factors that are causing economic decline in the region. It was interesting learning about the economic history of the region and how the actions of our country could affect the region in the very near future. Next we had a Vietnamese language class. Today we got to learn the alphabet, start to put together basic introductory phrases, and were given Vietnamese names. I was given the name Tú, which means brightness and elegance.

Next, we had our first company visit: GreenViet. GreenViet is a small company created to make environmentally friendly alternatives to traditional buildings. I found the most inspiring part about GreenViet to be their motto and mindset when approaching business. GreenViet is always focused on making a lot out of a little and their success can be attributed to this savvy mentality.
