Today was our second day in Bilbao!
We began the day with a visit to the Bilbao School of Engineering, where we listened to a detailed presentation about the history of the school and its various programs. After the presentation, we split into two groups to explore different student teams at the school. My group first visited the STREAM Guitar Team, whose mission is to build fully functional guitars made entirely from recycled materials. It was fascinating to see the unique components and creative processes that went into making the guitars work. I even got the chance to show off my skills by playing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star!

Then, we visited another team focused on building a competitive race car. They’re judged on various criteria, including lap speed, the ability to travel 20 kilometers, and more. It was so impressive to see them designing and building a vehicle entirely from scratch. Then, both groups came together to meet with the BISKY Team, a group dedicated to building and launching rockets. They shared details about past launches and gave us a preview of some upcoming projects. As someone who has always been fascinated by space, I found this part especially exciting.

Later in the day, we took the train to Casco Viejo, or “Old Town.” There, we met a tour guide who led us through Los Siete Calles (the Seven Streets), explaining the area’s rich history. One memorable fact was about the catastrophic flood of 1983, we even saw the marker showing how high the water rose. The town was absolutely stunning, and learning about its history while walking through it made the experience all the more meaningful. After the tour, a few friends and I stayed to explore more of the town. I loved the beautiful architecture, and we tried some pintxos, the popular small bites that Bilbao is known for. We ended the evening with our program dinner, where I saw the most bonding and laughter amon
