Today we visited two companies: HY Fredit and TK elevators. The first company we visited was HY credit, they produce many food products with the most famous one being Yakult yogurt drink. We were shown the manufacturing process for the Yakult drink from mixing the ingredients together to packaging and delivery. They also talked about what prebiotic and supplements they had to the beverages to increase their health benefits. After we toured the plant we got to play a VR game where we fought bad bacteria as D20 (their Yakult mascot). This was the first time I’ve played any VR Game and it was a very fun experience. We were also given some samples of Yakult that were very tasty at the end.
After we left Fredit we went to a traditional Korean soup restaurant. We had tofu soup with seafood and beef. It was amazing, the mushroom and meat blended a lot of flavor to the broth producing a very potent soup. I ended up eating three bowls of soup which left me very full. After lunch we stopped at a local convenience store and bought ice cream treats. I got a waffle stuffed with chocolate ice cream.
Next we headed to TK elevator’s korea production factory. When we arrived we were given visitor badges and ushered to the presentation room. We were shown a safety presentation and short introduction into the company’s history and mission. Next we went to their employee break room to play golf and ping pong for a bit. Then we started the factory tour, my group started at the safety experiences. I chose to participate in the safety harness challenge which was very painful, but also kind of fun. After that we walked the production floor and were shown many of the key steps in the production process for their products. Lastly we went to their elevator test shaft and rode it all the way to the top for a scenic view of their campus and surrounding town.
This was another amazing day in Korea, and I look forward to seeing Hyundai and the Han River tomorrow.
