Seoul Day 3!

Today we went on two company visits. The first one was to Fredit. This company specializes in yogurt drinks full of probiotics. We toured their factory to get an inside look at how they produce these drinks. The production was super efficient. Machines were pumping out thousands of the yogurt drinks. If there were any errors, the machines would stop, and one of the workers would solve the problem quickly. Soon enough, the machines would get going again, continuing the fast pace. At the end, they gave us a gift bag with some of the drinks with various flavors. They were all great, and I can see why they are so popular in Korea. Then we went to TKE, which specialized in elevators. Not only do they produce elevators and escalators, buy there leading the way for the future of these things. One of the new elevators that they are implementing goes horizontally through buildings. This was just one of the many ideas that started to create technology for. One of the coolest parts of the company was the building they worked in. It had a normal workplace feel, but then there was the addition of ping pong tables, pool tables, and even a golf simulator. We had free time for a little bit, and I made full use of it. I went directly to the golf simulator to practice my golf game. The big question I had for the TKE employees was How do they focus on work when they have a golf simulator so close?

The company visits were cool, but I was really looking forward to dinner. Me and about 6 other guys decided to take Dr. Yun’s recommendation of a Korean BBQ restaurant close to the hotel. It did not disappoint at all. We started with the pork belly, which was the best pork I have ever had in my life. The best way to eat it was to wrap it up in lettuce with a sauce called ssamjang. Then we moved on to marinated pork short ribs. It was a little sweet and incredibly tender. There was not a single bad bite at this meal. Not only was it great food, but we had a great time getting to know some of my group members. This dinner was definitely the highlight of my trip so far. We took a walk around the city to clear our stomachs and headed back to our hotel. That was all for day 3 in Seoul.
