Day 3: Exciting Experiences

Today, we toured Wargaming, a global video game developer and publisher known for its military online games. Throughout the presentations, I gained a better understanding of how game development operates in an international setting. They had various games revolving around war, such as World of Tanks, Warships, Warplanes, etc. I learned that Wargaming builds a strong, long-term game loyalty through continuous updates, rewards, and game passes. I was very impressed by how much thought goes into developing new strategies for promoting the company or ideas for new games. Wargaming operates in many different countries, which relates to a global supply chain network. Certain studios might focus on separate components of a game, such as customer support or art design. This is similar to how companies send out parts of the production process to different suppliers.

After the company tour, we took a bus to Kakoperia Village, where we were given a tour and some free time to explore. Throughout the village, there were stone roads and older structures, with so much greenery and flowers. One thing I noticed was a giant rock called Kakoperia, named after the village, meaning “evil rock”. Also, I appreciated the woman selling syrup-filled fruit right from her house, which added to the traditional aspect of the village. After the village, we made our way to St. Nicholas to see St. Nicholas of the Roof Church. The outside of the church looked like a normal home with a giant cross outside of it. We were allowed to take pictures outside, but not inside the church. It was so interesting to see the artwork spread throughout the entire church, covering every wall. I was surprised by the amount of detail present within each picture, allowing me to gain a deeper understanding of Greek Orthodox.
