Today was the site visit that I was most looking forward to, Hyundai! My family members have cars from this company, so I was excited to see what the company would talk about and if I would find my car in the production line. Before we got there, we were gifted a lovely breakfast box before embarking on a lovely tour. We started with an information session as usual and then had a tour of the facilities. I was truly shocked by some of the information that I learned. First being that one car is produced every 53 seconds, and over 100,000 cars are produced daily. I knew that since it was a large facility, they were able to achieve a high production output, the the speed at which these cars were produced was really impressive. Another aspect of the company that was really interesting is the number of automated machines they have. The company has over 300 employees, yet the majority of its processes are automated by machines. For example, the stamping and welding shops are 89% and 100% automated. But the assembly line only has a 14% automation, and while I am not that knowledgeable about car manufacturing, I would think that the assembly line would have the most automation. Overall, it was a great experience to see how the cars get from sheets of metal to moving vehicles.
The next stop was the Han River, which was a real sight to see. It was still pretty busy for it to be mid-afternoon on a Wednesday, but with gorgeous views. We got a box lunch and ate at a picnic. After some free time, we went on the Han River cruise, which was a very peaceful way to end the day. A young lady was singing and playing the piano, which was a nice touch to the ambiance. We sat listening to the live music while looking at the lovely scenery. Today was a 10/10!
