Our First stop of the day was Hyundai’s Asan manufacturing plant. Since it was quite a far drive we had to leave the hotel very early. This meant we had to get breakfast elsewhere, so we got sandwich boxes to eat on the bus. I really enjoyed the fruits and nuts they came with. Once we reached the factory they welcomed us in and played a short presentation In the history and mission of the company. After that we started the facility tour, first we were shown the pressing room where they turn blank sheets of metal into the components of the car body, It takes over 500 tons of pressure to mold the parts in the presses. Next we went to the welding part of the factory, there they combine the parts of the car body into several sub assemblies and finally it gets welded into the complete car body. After the car is welded it gets sent to the paint factory for 11 hours to get completely coated and dried. Lastly it is put through the assembly line where they add all the electronics, seats, hardware, and glass.
For lunch we got bento boxes delivered to the Han River. I got a chicken curry bento and all the side dishes were excellent. After lunch we walked around the river some and spent some time on a local playground swing while we waited for the river cruise.
We went to the cruise ship at 3:00 for our scheduled cruise. The cruise was very peaceful and we got to see some very nice views. We got to feed the seagulls anchovies which was very exciting as well. The tour took us through many of the city’s central Landmarks and the history behind them
Today was another great day, and I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s adventure.
