Another great day in Bilbao. We first started off with a tour of the local market, which had exotic foods such as octopus and whole lamb skulls. We stopped for a coffee and small pastry as well as learning some history about the symbols in the market. I learned how the name Lopez is derived from lobo, which is wolf in Spanish, which is why there are wolves on the Basque Country’s coat of arms. There were also birds inside the market. We then swapped places and headed towards the cooking class. We got to make classic dishes from both Spain and the Basque Country, including pintxos, tortilla de patatas, and un dessert muy bien. George and I even got to make our own dishes. After making two pintxos, the tortilla de patatas, and a delicious dessert similar to crème brûlée, we started walking towards the “Bilbao Incline.” We got to see a beautiful view of the city and see some historical places of Bilbao from above.
