On Monday, we visited the University of Augsburg and attended a virtual lecture by a journalist at Bloomsberg. He discussed car pricing in relation to features like display quality and speed and gave an overview of current trends in the automotive industry. One key topic was the planned 2035 ban on certain internal combustion engines to reduce emissions. It was eye-opening to learn how some companies are lobbying to delay the ban while also transitioning toward electric vehicles. Hearing such information from an expert on the topic was a welcome experience.
After the lecture, we split into small groups with both German and Pitt students to prepare presentations on various companies. My group focused on Grob, a company that produces assembly technology/machines for companies in a variety of industries.
Later, two German students gave us a walking tour of Augsburg, which ended at a local beer garden. It was a great opportunity to relax and connect with everyone after a busy day. We finished with dinner at an Italian restaurant. I was quite exhausted after dinner, and could finally feel my jet lag leaving my body.
