Day 5 – I Saw My Dream Car

Today we toured the Audi factory. Compared to the other site visits, Audi felt the most organized, advanced, and thought-out. The plant we were at was 2 million square meters! It is hard to even grasp the size of the plant; they make 2,000 cars a day!

What really stood out was the level of automation. In the early stages of production, there were no people, precise robots doing repetitive tasks. It was both fascinating and a little intimidating to see how far tech has come in manufacturing. Still, I noticed that humans are essential later in the process, especially for tasks like unwrapping packaging or performing final checks. It made me think about the future of labor in the auto industry and just how far automation will go.

After the tour, we had lunch at Audi’s caféwand then sat in on a presentation with someone from Audi’s product strategy team. He shared insights on Audi’s EV shift by 2026, the potential impact of U.S. tariffs, and demographic trends. Once again, it was truly fascinating being able to pick the brain of an individual so knowledgeable and high-up in a company as prestigious as Audi.
