As every other day, we woke up early to catch the bus and see what the day had in store. Though it was a bit sad as we left behind Nicosia and the people and sights we made along the way to the coastal paradise of Limassol. We immediately drove right past to see the ancient ruins of Kourion. Where, surprisingly enough, there was evidence of the influence of Christianity in the symbols of the beautiful tile mosaic floors. Though the best part for me was just exploring and walking along the cliff’s edge, getting some of the most stunning views of my life.
We then departed Kourion, and finally, we were allowed to run wild in Limassol for lunch, which felt as though we were like chickens with our heads cut off, trying to find any food we could. Though order did return when our amazing tour guide, Georgia, led us through the museum inside Limassol Castle. Where I learned about the brutal beheadings committed by the Ottomans against the defenders of Cyprus, which was really cool to hear on a full stomach. Though after a long day, we finally reached our hotel, which is really nice, but I think they took some of the technologies from the kinds of houses my parents grew up in during the 70s. With a week to go, and a whole new city to explore the skies the limit for our remaining week in Cyprus.
