Vietnam Day 5

Today we visited Glass Egg, a company that develops designs for video games. The video game industry is extremely competitive, there are a ton of companies who are all looking to work on the next big game. I believe that Glass Egg’s key to success in this tough environment is there employee retention rate. During the tour, when they were talking about their wall of fame, they mention that they have a lot of employees that have been there for ten to fifteen years. With this many experienced employees, Glass Egg has a competitive edge over other competitors because the experienced employees have been around and are able to create better designs compared to an intern.

Also, Glass Egg has an impressive resume having work in notable games like Forza, Call of Duty, and Fortnite. Because of the well known recognition and popularity these games have this kind of experience is bound to give them some recognition among the developers. To add on to this it seems that they have a good standing relationship with the developers they are already collaborating with as some of them have been their clients for years. For example, Glass Egg has been working with Microsoft on designing the cars for their Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon games for 25 years. This has lead them to work with Microsoft on their other projects like Flight Simulator.

In the future, Glass Egg will face different challenges considering that the video game industry is ever changing because new technology is always being developed and something new always comes out every year. Like with A.I., it may not be a problem now but it will continue to develop and could create problems in the future.
