A late start today, which really helped me feel rejuvenated for the day. Our first activity was taekwondo, but we had to take a public bus to the place. That was an adventure in and of itself. 27 of us squished into a public bus was not the most pleasant experience. We were able to all get there in one piece and once we got changed, we started learning. We were taught some easy moves and did a little sparing. At the end, we were able to break a board by kicking it. Overall a very fun experience to try.
After working hard we walked to get lunch. We all joined Jinny (the tour guide) at a Korean barbeque. It was delicious and definitely fueled us for the tour through city hall, which was beautiful. The inside of the newer part of the city hall was very pretty because it had plants all the way up the walls and very cool artwork. Before our next stop we spent some time at the courtyard in front of city hall. They had a fitness and wellness event going on, so we were able to get free supplements. They look a little sketchy, but it will be interesting to try. Eventually we walked to Myeongdong and found the restaurant before having a bit of free time. This was spent going to a cat cafe. The cats were all rescued and they were so cute. One of them was missing an eye and two of them had really short legs so they were my favorites.
After our free time, we went to dinner. I had the beef bulgogi and I was able to try more sides. I also tried the rice soup dish at the end. This is when you pour water in the leftover rice at the bottom of the bowl and drink/eat the soup. I would rather eat rice normally, but it wasn’t bad and I would have it again. Once we finished, Dr. Yun informed us of another challenge, and surprisingly my group won! We were able to find the ice cream cart before the other teams and we ate for free. Since we were already in Myeongdong, I decided to stay there for free time. We spent most of the time looking for a specific store we saw last time, but we didn’t know the area it was in or even the name. After hours of walking around we were able to find it and I got a shirt. As a sweet treat for our hard work, we got a fish cake thing filled with Nutella. When we got back we had a skincare night and then went to bed.
