Today’s itinerary consisted of a visit to the University of Augsburg, a guest lecture, a scavenger hunt, and dinner at an Italian restaurant. Upon starting our day, we were able to meet the students that would be in our groups for the company projects. The two girls that Ashlyn, Conner and I met for our group Hoerbiger, were extremely nice and very easy to get along with. Even though Professor Feick may have slightly surprised us with impromptu presentations about our companies, we were still able to pull something together. I’m very excited to be working with them in the future as well.
After our presentations, we were given a guest lecture on the current state of the automotive industry and his views on the movement toward EVs worldwide, specifically what that will look like for the EU and their goal to be completely electric by 2035. Mr. Wilkes was very nice to take the time out of his day and work at Bloomburg to give us a better understanding of the kind of environment our companies are operating in.
Once we finished inside the classroom, we met some more of the people who will be coming to Pittsburgh in the Fall as the follow-up to their Industry Analysis class. They gave us a tour of the University, took us around the city on a little scavenger-hunt, and we ended at a brewery where we were able to get to know each other much better. I, specifically, was having an amazing time answering any of their questions about what Pittsburgh is like.
In comparison to Heidelberg University, where I studied in the fall, Augsburg has a much more defined campus, though it is definitely smaller overall. Heidelberg, somewhat like Pitt, is more integrated into the city, not so much an area cut out for all of the college buildings.
