One Week In

Due to the rainy weather, we had to move some things around for today, and started off with a late morning meeting at IES headquarters with the former minister of health, Dr. Novick, to recap key learnings. We reviewed and learned about Argentina’s health ministry system, and how each part is run and financed, as well as the challenges they face. Following the lecture, we all got together with our groups to review our presentations. My group was able to make a plan for all the changes we need to make to our first draft, which was very helpful because now for the next few days we’ll have the key concepts in mind and can know what information to look out for during our upcoming lectures.

In the afternoon we headed to Museo Evita, where we all ate lunch and then took a guided tour. The museum is devoted to educating its visitors on the life of Evita Perón, a very significant First Lady of Argentina. We looked at many different aspects of her life such as clothes, other personal items, pictures, and videos. Before the tour I did not have a very good idea of who Evita was, so it was very interesting to learn about her story and the different parts of her life, noting how they shaped her into the well-known and beloved political figure she is remembered by.
