You know how yesterday Aruni and Peter were late? You could say they Ali and I outdid them today. Started off extremely late, but we “Bolt”-ed to the port for the site visits. We learned about and visited Eurogate, P&O, DP World, and CPA. Prior to this trip, I was only informed about supply chain management for a singular unit in Introduction to Marketing. The information discussed today was extremely informative of each supply chain concept. We started off at CPA, Cyprus Ports Authority. They are basically controlling each and every port facility on Cyprus. Basically the compliance, tariffs, master planning of supply chain management. This ensures the efficient cargo flow and vessel turnaround.

What I thought was interesting was the fact we were unable to take any sort of picture. DP World and P&O Maritime was a combined presentation and was a step up from CPA. DP World is mostly the business side, or the action side of the collaboration, meaning it was an operator of a multipurpose terminal. Regarding supply chain management, they mostly use their own inbound shipments to ensure time efficiency which is a sense of vertical integration within a horizontally integrated collaboration. I also enjoyed that there were two presenters, one for HR management from P&O and one from DP World. I thought that they were really in depth within their presentations. P&O was more in depth with global sea services communicating directly with the port’s clients and users. Generally speaking, an entire company of intermediaries. Our last tour was Eurogate, who operates the container terminal. This means they take care of anything regarding unloading cargo off of each ship as their supply chain effort. Overall each of these companies has an intricate part within supply chain management, working together to ensure everything at Limassol Port is done up to code and correctly. I would rate this day solid 7/10, only because of my own late arrival.
