Day 10 – Wrapping Up with GROB

Today we visited GROB and I was really excited because it’s actually the company my group is focusing on for our final project. I didn’t know too much about them going in so I wasn’t sure what to expect but I ended up really enjoying the visit. It also hit me today that this was our last company visit which made everything feel a little more meaningful.

We started off the day with a short presentation where we learned that GROB is a family-owned company that has been passed down through four generations. I thought that was really impressive. You could feel the strong company culture as we went through the visit. The employees seemed proud of the work they do and happy to be there.

Something that surprised me was how many different industries GROB works in. I thought they just made car parts but it turns out they make the machines that other companies use to build components. They even produce things like metal prosthetics which I never would have guessed. The range of their products and capabilities was way more than I expected.

We toured the factory and it was one of the cleanest and most advanced ones we’ve seen. It was really interesting to see how much work goes into building these giant machines. I found myself more engaged than I thought I would be and it made me appreciate how much innovation is happening behind the scenes in manufacturing.

After the visit we had some free time back in Augsburg to grab food and work on our final presentations. It was a nice way to wrap up the day but also kind of bittersweet knowing the trip is coming to an end. Visiting GROB ended up being one of my favorite stops and I’m glad we ended on a high note.
