Day 10: Along the Coast

Today was a very long day full of hiking but it was so worth it. It showed just how beautiful the Spanish countryside can be. We got on the bus around 10:30 am and drove through the countryside until we got to Biscay. Here, we walked down the mountain to climb the steps to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe. It is a chapel on an islet in the Bay of Biscay and it has one of the most stunning views that I have seen all trip. The hike was moderately hard and there were about 240 steps to the top which was challenging too. We were able to take some great pictures of the countryside too while on the bus.

After hiking back up to the top of the trail, we went to Mundaka for lunch. There are many cafes and bars there that serve pintxos and it also has a beautiful marina. We also got authentic Italian gelato which was amazing. Then, we went to the Oma painted forest which also had a hike up to where it started. I think today had to be my favorite of the trip. We just spent time outside, in good company, and saw beautiful things. I don’t think I could have asked for a better day.
