A Long Walk

Today was a day full of exploring. We started off taking a bus to a place that was in Game of Thrones. We learned about the history of the Basque people along the way, like how the houses with palm trees with them are Indian houses, which are houses built after people went to the Americas and back. We arrived at our location after seeing the beautiful scenery and ocean along the way. Even though we could see the chapel instantly, it was still a long hike away. Steep inclines, rocky paths, and slippery gravel were all in our way on the downhill, and once we got down to the foot of the hill, we had to hike over two hundred stairs to get up to the church. The views from above were amazing, however, and made the hike worth it. The bluest water and most interesting rock formations were all there. After taking the views in, we had to head back up what was like a mountain. It was 10 times harder than the hike down, and almost everyone was exhausted after backing up. We then took a lunch break in the small fishing town over. Fishing towns used to be some of the richest towns in Spain due to all the whale hunting they were able to do. We also had an ice cream treat before heading off to our last stop of the day, the painted forest. The hike to the entrance was a lot further than expected, but it was made up for by seeing some animals along the way. The forest itself was beautiful, and we learned how it was the second one made, as the first one went away when the trees died. Overall, the day had a lot of walking.
