Today was our last day in Cyprus and it was a hot one. First we went to St. Mina’s monastery which incorporates French Gothic and Byzantine architecture and dates back to the 15th century. There were very ornate glass chandeliers from the venetians inside, and outside the nuns sell various local goods; I purchased a fig pie. We then went to the beautiful mountaintop Lefkara Village, famous for Lefkara Lace, a sewing method that is featured in Da Vinci’s painting of the Last Supper as the tablecloth Jesus and the twelve apostles are eating on. There were other local shops and narrow roads, as well as another church with colorful stained glass overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
