Lefkara, I Hardly Know Her!

With our final full day in Cyprus, we ventured to the village of Lefkara, situated high in the mountains. Though before I get into that, I must first mention our visit to the St. Minas Monastery. Besides the usual beautiful architecture and ornately decorated church, the remoteness of the monastery was what struck me. The feeling and sense of calmness that radiated from the passing nuns brought a sense of ease to the end of this great experience. Now I can talk about Lefkara, where the only thing I did not leave with was money. Learning and seeing the artistry of the Lefkara lace, was the culture I have been looking for here. Seeing the dedication to the craft these people hold for their work was really inspiring. Furthermore I cannot tell if I brought ate more Cyprus delights in Lefkara or brought more home with me. It was overall a great experience to end this trip which will be impossible for me to forget.
