Today was a visit to Lefkara Village and St. Mina’s Monastery, right outside of Limassol. It was such a nice day for a visit such as these, a staggering 86 degrees with barely any clouds. Our first stop was St. Mina’s Monastery, where I observed the prettiest monastery probably known to man. On the outside, you wouldn’t expect the sights you see inside due to its grey, stony exterior with a terracotta roof. However, once you walk inside you are hit with a bunch of greenery of beautiful trees and flowers. Once you get inside the building, you will see thousands of pieces of artwork surrounded with decorative gold pieces and chandeliers. It truly was beautiful. After our monastery visit, we made the short drive to Lefkara Village. This place was the best village we have visited so far, there were tons of photo-ops with the stone buildings and lush vegetation. Plus, I got to see thousands of mini shops with handmade goods, restaurants with the best food, and common tourist traps. My favorite part was touring the Church of the Holy Cross, which was a church with around the same style as the monastery. It had a second floor designated for early mothers and thousands of different pieces of Biblical pictures on the wall. Lefkara also has abandoned Turkish-Cypriot buildings as you walk along, which were all abandoned but not able to be sold. The rich history of Lefkara only makes it more beautiful. Overall, I loved today and am sad for it to be my last day in Cyprus.
