Hello! I am Gabrielle Bleice, and I am in Plus3’s South Korea program. We are leaving May 2nd, and I could not be more excited. I am an electrical engineer that is extremely interested in smart systems, and Korea has the insight I am looking for. In my future, I would like a job in autonomous systems or smart technology. I enjoy exploring new places and learning new things; two things I will most definitely be doing while on my journey.
In addition to math and science, I am interested in art. I am a highly ranked choral singer and in many musicals. Some of my favorites would be Newsies, Anastasia, and Phantom of the Oprah. I also love playing video games, snowboarding, and drawing in my free time as well. Journaling is another hobby of mine. I cannot wait to reflect on my day each night in this journal and have a retrospective to look back on for years to come.
I have been interested in Korea since middle school. I admit, it did start with Kpop; however, it evolved into a genuine fascination and appreciation for the culture. In 2020, I tried learning the language and started to understand tv shows and live streams in Korean. It has been my dream to go to Korea, so I am excited with this opportunity being my first trip (as I refuse to let it be my last).
It was serendipitous seeing that my country of choice also was the country to teach about the field I am interested in. I plan on doing a concentration in autonomous systems within my electrical engineering major. Creating innovative, helpful technologies is my goal. So many advancements in recent years have been useless. Devices will come out with the same features marketed in different ways. Managing power supply in a meaningful way according to popular usage, lowering power intake on a large scale, all done autonomously is something I cannot even comprehend, but I will make it my goal to understand and elevate such technologies. Korea is doing many things right in this regard. I have so much to learn!
