From Pitt to Augsburg – Pre Departure Intro

Hi everyone! My name is Nick D’Esposito, and I’m a Sophomore at the University of Pittsburgh majoring in Finance and Business Analytics. On campus, I’m actively involved in my fraternity, where I’ve taken on leadership responsibilities and worked on organizing events and recruitment. I’m also very interested in financial markets and spend time learning about investing and trading, both inside and outside the classroom.

Touching on outside the classroom, I spend time learning about trading and the financial markets, viewing it as both a skill and a long-term discipline. This has strengthened my ability to think critically, manage risk, and stay focused under pressure. Through these experiences, I am working toward developing both the technical and interpersonal skills necessary for a career in finance, while continuing to learn how to operate effectively in fast-paced and competitive environments.

The reason I chose the Plus3 program is because not only have I been interested in traveling to Germany and have always wanted to a country known for it’s economic strength and innovation from an international perspective. Specifically for the automotive industry, Germany is home to some of the most influential and biggest car manufacturers in the world. Whether it’s supplying parts, or the full production of automobiles, I’m excited to see firsthand how businesses there operate and compete on a global scale.

Adding on to that, another big reason I chose Germany is my passion for cars, especially German cars. Brands like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Porsche have always stood out to me for their precision, performance, and innovation. Being able to visit the country where these brands were built and see that culture up close is something I’m really excited about.

Beyond academics, I’m looking forward to experiencing the culture, meeting new people, and stepping outside of my comfort zone. This is a lot more to me than a vacation or a trop overseas, it is a massive opportunity to grow personally and gain a new perspective on the business world.
