Hi, my name is Jacqueline Shields, and I am a nursing major at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg. I am a member of the Fredrick Honors College, a student-athlete on the Pitt-Greensburg volleyball team, and a member of the Student Nurses Association. In addition, to my academic and extracurricular involvement, I work as a technical partner at Independence Health, where I have gained valuable hands-on experience in the healthcare setting. I am from Butler, Pennsylvania and have always been passionate about science and helping other, which led me to pursue a career in nursing. Outside of school, I enjoy staying active and spending time outdoors skiing in the winter and paddleboarding in the summer whenever I can.

I have chosen to participate in the Plus3 program in the United Kingdom because of my strong interest in global healthcare and my desire to study abroad. This program, which includes both nursing and education majors, will allow me to explore how healthcare and education systems differ internationally. I am excited to experience a new culture and broaden my perspective. I hope to deepen my understanding of different healthcare delivery models and they impact patient outcomes. This experience will help prepare me for my future career goals of becoming either a CRNA or a traveling nurse by developing cultural competence and adaptability.
